Keep the character of your period home

Original windows are a big part of what makes a period home special. When they start to rot, stick or let in draughts, it can feel like you have to choose between keeping the look and having a comfortable home.

Heritage windows let you have both. Designed to match traditional timber styles, they bring modern double glazing and security to Victorian, Edwardian, Georgian and cottage-style properties without losing their character.

We’ve been making windows in Nottinghamshire since 1973 and have fitted them in period homes across Nottingham, Derby and the wider East Midlands.

Our heritage range includes sliding sash, flush sash and Georgian-style windows. Every one is made to measure, so we can match the proportions and details of your existing windows as closely as possible.

Keeping the Character of Your Home

Each of our heritage styles is based on a traditional design.

Sliding sash windows recreate the classic box sash, with sashes that slide up and down. They suit Victorian and Georgian homes and have an A energy rating as standard.

Flush sash windows have a sash that sits level with the frame, just like a traditional timber casement. They’re a good choice for cottages and older homes, and we developed the design here in Beeston.

Georgian windows use our Geo-bar system, which adds a bar between the panes so each window looks like it’s made of separate small panes. With monkey tail handles, they give an authentic period look.

The finish matters as much as the style. Cream, Chartwell Green and woodgrain effects such as Golden Oak and Rosewood help new windows blend in with older brick and stone.

Heritage window options include:

  • uPVC sliding sash windows
  • Flush sash windows
  • Georgian windows with Geo-bar
  • Period-style flush casements
  • Sculptured, chamfered and ovolo profiles
  • Traditional colours and woodgrain finishes
  • Monkey tail handles and period-style hardware
  • Decorative glass

Frequently Asked Questions

What are heritage windows?
Heritage windows are designed to look like traditional timber windows while using modern materials and double glazing. Our range includes sliding sash, flush sash and Georgian-style windows.
Can I fit uPVC windows in a conservation area?
Often, yes, but rules vary between councils. Some areas have extra controls on changing windows, so check with your local planning authority before you order. The Planning Portal has more guidance.
What if my home is listed?
If your home is listed, you’ll usually need listed building consent to replace the windows, and uPVC may not be accepted. Speak to your council’s conservation officer first.
Are heritage windows energy efficient?
Yes. Our sliding sash windows have an A energy rating as standard and our flush sash windows are A+ rated. Both keep far more heat in than single-glazed timber windows.
Which heritage window is right for my home?
It depends on the age and style of your property and the windows you have now. Bring a photo of your house to either showroom and we’ll help you choose.
